Graduate Consultant – Safety Management

£34,000 - October 2025 start

Locations: Hybrid, where you can choose one of our office locations: Bath, Bristol, London, Fareham, Weymouth, Plymouth, Leeds, Aberdeen, or Glasgow

About the role

Due to the current and future workload requirements within BMT, we are looking for Graduates to join our specialists within our Safety Management Team who are based in various locations throughout the UK.

As a Graduate within the Safety Management Team you will be involved with a wide variety of projects across a range of market sectors. You will work alongside our consultants and engineers, to provide safety management services to our clients, helping to identify and manage safety risks associated with their systems, processes and activities. You will be supporting tasks including, but not limited to, the production of safety management plans, hazard identification and analysis, risk assessment and hazard log management. You can expect to receive training and guidance from our experienced employees, and we will support you to start the journey to achieve Chartered status within your technical profession.

What is the Graduate Programme?

As a BMT graduate, you will be part of an exciting 2-year development programme that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience that you will need to propel your career to the next level. You will be paired with a mentor who will support your development within BMT and you will receive a tailored training programme.

BMT partner, and have close relationships with, many of the professional institutions so if Chartership is a route that you are interested in, we will support you by paying the membership fees for your chosen institution and you will receive a chartership mentor who will help support you with your application.

About you

Do you have the following?

  • A desire to make a difference in your chosen field.
  • A relevant degree such as mechanical / aeronautical / systems / electronic engineering, applied science / mathematics or another relevant degree.
  • An interest to develop your skills to align with our services and a desire to deliver within our various markets.
  • Dedication to providing first-class service to our clients and the determination to further your career and gain Chartered status.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team building skills.
  • An ability to work with a flexible and hybrid team.
  • Although not essential, some experience of numerical/statistical analysis and tools (e.g. MS Excel and Access) would be beneficial.
  • Flexibility and mobility to be able to work across BMT offices and customer sites throughout the UK.
