About the role
Due to the current and future workload requirements within BMT, we are looking for Graduates to join our specialist teams within our Environmental Services team who are based in locations throughout the UK, including London, Bath, Bristol, Plymouth, Fareham, Leeds, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
As a Graduate within the Environmental Services team, you will be involved with a wide variety of projects across a range of market areas. You will work alongside our consultants and engineers, providing environmental management services to our clients.
Depending on your background and experience, you will work in one or more of the following areas:
- Environmental Impact Assessment, permitting and consultancy support in the fields of offshore energy supply (from development to decommissioning), climate resilience, blue Carbon and NetZero, and fisheries, aquaculture and food security,
- conducting environmental impact assessments and preparing environmental permits, producing environmental management plans, aspects and impacts registers, legislation registers and environmental case reports,
- flood and coast risk assessments, data analytics and climate risk analysis.
You can expect to receive training and guidance from our experienced employees, and we will support you to start the journey to achieve Chartered status within your technical profession.

As a BMT graduate, you will be part of an exciting 2-year development programme that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience that you will need to propel your career to the next level. You will be paired with a mentor who will support your development within BMT and you will receive a tailored training programme.
BMT will also support professional memberships and will pay for the membership fees as you develop your career in the environmental field.
About you
Do you have the following?
- A desire to make a difference in your chosen field.
- A degree in a relevant field such as environment, sustainability, marine biology, oceanography, geography or engineering. A Masters’ Degree would be an advantage.
- An interest to develop your skills to align with our services and a desire to deliver within our various markets.
- Dedication to providing first-class service to our clients and the determination to further your career and gain Chartered status.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent team building skills.
- An ability to work with a flexible and hybrid team.
- Although not essential, some academic training or experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
- knowledge of environmental assessment processes, preferably for infrastructure in coastal and marine environments
- A strong understanding of marine ecosystems and ecology, particularly of UK seas
- an understanding of environmental and sustainability legislation
- awareness of environmental management systems and marine sustainability issues for maritime platforms and infrastructure
- knowledge of river hydrology, hydraulics and coastal processes including application of earth observation
- numerical/statistical modelling and analysis and tools (e.g. MS Excel, QGIS, R) for river and coastal processes.
- Flexibility and mobility to be able to work across BMT offices and customer sites throughout the UK.
