Due to a number of exciting opportunities, BMT is looking for Graduates to join our Mission & Complex Systems engineering team as a Graduate Complex Systems Engineer.

Want to work with alongside the UK’s Armed Forces to deliver and support cutting edge Mission and Complex System technologies?

The Mission and Complex Systems team work on many Defence focused projects covering engineering topics such as; weapon systems, sensors, communications, information systems, autonomy, command and control, platform and navigation systems, trials and integration, verification and validation, data collection and analysis. Many of our projects are in the Maritime Domain, working with Mission and Complex Systems onboard Royal Navy Warships, Submarines and Auxiliary vessels. We regularly work alongside other teams within BMT on projects such as Whole Ship Design, with responsibility for specifying the Mission and Complex systems and integrating them into the wider ship design process.

Working as a Complex Systems Engineer in this engineering consultancy focused role will provide the opportunity to be involved in a variety of work and projects. You will have the ability to influence your training and project experience to forge a career path in which you find great personal and professional satisfaction. You will be working directly with customers including the Royal Navy, Defence Equipment and Support and the Submarine Delivery Agency. As a graduate, you will be enrolled on our 2-year Global Graduate and Apprenticeship Programme. You will receive technical and business training and will be employed on a varied range of Mission and Complex Systems projects, building your skills and knowledge alongside our experienced engineers and consultants, who are also keen to support you on your journey towards Chartered status and other professional qualifications.

What is the Global Graduate and Apprenticeship Programme?

As a BMT graduate, you will be part of an exciting 2-year development programme that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience that you will need to propel your career to the next level. You will receive a tailored training programme designed to provide you key skills you will require for your role, whilst also providing a wider awareness of the other business lines within BMT and other business operations. You will also be paired with a mentor who will support your development within BMT.

BMT partner with many of the professional institutions so if Chartership is a route that you are interested in, we will support you by providing a chartership mentor who will support you with your application and by paying the membership fees for your chosen institution

About you

We are looking for graduates who have the following:

  • A relevant degree such as Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other subjects in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
  • An ambition to work in, and contribute to, the UK Defence domain.
  • A keen focus on providing first-class service to our Customers.
  • The determination to further their career, and develop their skills with an aim to gain Chartered engineer status or other professional qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
