About the role
The Finance Business Partner supports regional management achieving the strategy and goals by building and maintaining an effective and efficient management control system and by providing reliable management information.
Primary responsibility will be building and managing the management accounting and control for the region, including coordinating and supporting the periodic planning and control cycle (i.e. budgeting, forecasting, monitoring of performance against targets). In addition, the role will be responsible for financial modelling and due diligence for growth initiatives, complex project bids, etc.
The role will build and manage the FBP team of the region. They will work closely with the Financial Accounting and Control team(s), will build relationships with the Delivery teams, PMO, Commercial and other support functions where needed.
The Finance Business Partner will work as part of the Finance team in the US/Canada region, reporting to the Regional Finance Director Americas.
The Finance team work closely together to ensure that all day-to-day responsibilities are covered during leave and busy periods. The team works with a flexible approach and take on ad hoc responsibilities when required. It is expected that the team members assist and support each other when performing their respective responsibilities and tasks.
The Finance Business Partner will:
- Manage the Business Partnering function for the region. The role has scope for line management responsibility.
- Building and maintaining the Management Control System/Framework of the region, aimed at implementing the strategy of the region, consistent with the overall, global BMT strategy.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles and deliverables.
- Monitor progress of actual results against targets; provide relevant management information via variance analysis and performance reviews of the organizational units
- Support forecasting of trading results and overhead costs via regular reviews with the budget holders.
- Build and maintain effective and efficient reporting, budgeting and forecasting tools.
- Validate accuracy of project performance reports.
- Pro-actively advise regional management on potential (project) improvements and value drivers.
- Attend bid review meetings and sign off in line with delegations.
- Attend project review meetings with stakeholders to understand and monitor project results.
- Attend business review meetings supporting program managers.
- Working with the Financial Accounting and Control team(s) to understand and verify actual results.
- Support cashflow management by monitoring cash position against budget and forecasts.
- Prepare accounting papers as and when required.
- Support the Financial Accounting team(s) with annual audit and preparation of year-end reports and statutory accounts.
- Work with Group Finance team(s) as required.
About you
We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- University Degree (Finance related) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA; or equivalent), with a focus on Management Accounting.
- Significant experience in Project Accounting and Management Accounting, preferably from a defence or engineering background.
- Experience with ERP/Project Management systems, preferably Deltek Vision and/or IFS
- Adept experience with Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, Excel)
- Ability to think and work on a strategic level as well as tactical/operational. Hands-on.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, influencing and negotiating skills. Team player
