About the role
We are increasingly using our knowledge and expertise to drive transformative designs, technology and solutions around the world that will contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BMT’s focus SDGs are Climate Action and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. These goals matter most to our stakeholders and are where we believe we can have the greatest impact towards a better future.
We are seeking individuals who are passionate about addressing these global challenges and are proactive in finding opportunities to integrate sustainable practices as part their role.
Are you looking to apply your engineering knowledge to new and varied challenges, from helping and advising customers with engineering projects to supporting the creation and realisation of new systems?
We are planning for the next stage of growth and are now recruiting experienced Combat System Engineers with knowledge of either Surface Ships or Submarines particularly around whole ship (or boat) design, support and acquisition. Experience of working at MOD Abbey Wood or MOD Corsham would be advantageous.
We can be flexible on location either in our main offices in central Bath or remote working. Flexible working is available so we welcome applications from those not based in the Bath area - we have offices in Plymouth, Portsmouth , Weymouth, Glasgow and London too. There is also travel required to customer sites or to attend meetings. This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.
About you
We are looking for Combat Systems specialists (former Royal Navy Warrant Officer/Senior Rating WE/WESM maintainers and pre/post Charge WE/WESM Officers) can who maintain their knowledge regarding platform design, sensors, communications, weapons and C2 systems. Much of our work is acquisition and support orientated providing consultancy type services within DE&S, SDA, Defence Digital and Front-Line Commands. Our Combat System specialists can expect to work on projects as part of a team or lead on smaller projects working directly with our valued customers.
As much of our work is directly customer focused, your ability to present and articulate technically complex work clearly to stakeholders is important.
We value professional qualifications and professional registration with appropriate institutions, and we can provide support, training and tailored experience in order for you to achieve these, if not already held.
Please note, to be considered for this role you must be a UK National and eligible to hold UK Security Clearance at SC level.
Missing skills? Let us be the judge! BMT are passionate about people; we recognise that technology moves quickly and that no one can learn everything, which is why we seek those who can adapt and demonstrate the aptitude to learn. With enthusiasm and the right attitude, we can help you discover your potential.
