Job Description

Our vision for Surgery at BD

About the role

The Regional Marketing Leader, Surgery META is responsible for developing and driving the commercial marketing strategy across the Saudi, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) region. The role drives portfolio growth, market development, launch excellence, clinical adoption, content creation, market access alignment, and distributor marketing effectiveness across the Surgery portfolio.

As the strategic bridge between the Global Business Units and the META region, this leader ensures that global portfolio strategies, innovation priorities, and value propositions are effectively translated into actionable regional growth plans, while representing the voice of META to influence global decision-making. The role serves as the primary conduit for customer insights, market dynamics, unmet needs, competitive intelligence, and growth opportunities, helping shape future portfolio and innovation strategies.

The position is also accountable for upstream marketing activities, including identifying emerging market opportunities, understanding customer needs, influencing innovation priorities, and supporting portfolio planning. In addition, the role leads the creation, adaptation, and governance of commercial marketing content across META to ensure consistent, impactful, and locally relevant engagement with customers and stakeholders.

Working closely with the Surgery VP META, Country Business Leaders, Sales Leaders, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Professional Education, and Global Marketing teams, the Regional Marketing Leader translates strategy into execution to accelerate revenue growth, increase market penetration, strengthen customer partnerships, and reinforce BD's leadership position across META.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development and execution of the META Marketing strategy, portfolio priorities, launch plans, pricing input, and commercial initiatives to achieve or exceed revenue, GP, and OIBT objectives.

  • Act as the primary bridge between Global Marketing and META commercial teams, translating global strategies into regionally relevant initiatives while ensuring META market needs are represented in global decision-making.

  • Lead upstream marketing activities by identifying unmet customer needs, emerging clinical trends, market opportunities, and portfolio gaps across META.

  • Influence global innovation roadmaps, product development priorities, and launch strategies through voice-of-customer insights, market intelligence, and regional business cases.

  • Own the development, adaptation, governance, and deployment of commercial marketing content across META, including value propositions, sales enablement tools, campaigns, customer presentations, digital assets, and clinical communication materials.

  • Develop and articulate compelling, customer-centric value propositions tailored to target market segments, care pathways, customer needs, and country-specific market dynamics.

  • Drive successful launch execution for new products, line extensions, and therapy development priorities through robust commercialization, adoption, and readiness plans.

  • Collaborate closely with Country Business Leaders, Sales Managers, Product Managers, Global Marketing, Medical Affairs, Professional Education, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to ensure aligned execution.

  • Partner with distributors and direct commercial teams to strengthen marketing capability, campaign execution, product adoption, funnel development, and customer engagement.

  • Lead market research, business analytics, segmentation, targeting, and performance assessments to support informed strategic decision-making and platform optimization.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of healthcare, medical technology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical experience, with significant experience in regional marketing, product management, commercial excellence, or business leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering growth strategies, portfolio plans, product launches, and market development initiatives across multiple countries and channels.

  • Experience working with both direct sales organizations and distributor-based business models across complex, diverse, and emerging markets.

  • Strong understanding of the Surgery space, including hernia, infection prevention and hemostasis management or related hospital based environment.

  • Experience working with both direct sales organizations and distributor-based business models across complex, diverse, and emerging markets.

  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted connector between global business teams and regional commercial organizations, balancing global consistency with local market realities.

  • Experience in upstream marketing, voice-of-customer programs, market insight generation, portfolio planning, and innovation roadmap input.

  • Strong content creation capability, including development of customer-facing materials, value propositions, sales tools, campaign assets, launch toolkits, and executive-level presentations.

  • Skilled at leading through influence within complex matrix organizations involving Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, and Global teams.

  • Strong financial competence with experience supporting annual operating plans, forecasts, budget management, ROI tracking, and business reviews.
