Job Description

We are the people who give possibilities purpose

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Market Access Manager to lead the UK market access strategy for our Urology & Critical Care portfolio.

This is a high-impact role where you will help ensure innovative medical technologies reach the patients and healthcare professionals who need them. You will lead strategies that secure and expand reimbursement, funding, formulary access and adoption across NHS acute, community and homecare pathways.

Working closely with Commercial, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Regulatory, Government Affairs and other key functions, you will translate clinical and economic evidence into practical access strategies that support patient access, sustainable adoption and commercial growth.

What you'll be doing

Lead our UK market access strategy

  • Develop and deliver the UK market access strategy for the Urology & Critical Care portfolio.
  • Manage reimbursement pathways from evidence planning and HTA through to funding, commissioning, procurement and routine adoption.
  • Lead reimbursement strategies for community-prescribed medical devices, including NHS Drug Tariff Part IX submissions, renewals, categorisation and pricing.
  • Develop access strategies for hospital technologies through routes including NICE evaluation, NHS funding mechanisms, specialised commissioning, high-cost device arrangements and local provider business cases.
  • Navigate funding and commissioning across ICBs, NHS trusts, community providers and other healthcare systems.
  • Develop tailored access strategies for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Shape future pathways and evidence

  • Monitor changes in NHS policy, reimbursement, commissioning and care pathways, identifying emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, HEOR and Regulatory colleagues to shape clinical, health-economic, budget-impact and real-world evidence strategies.
  • Develop payer value propositions, budget-impact models and NHS business cases that help support funding decisions.
  • Explore innovative funding, contracting and service models that improve patient access and create sustainable value.
  • Build strong relationships with NHS commissioners, clinicians, procurement teams, patient organisations, policy makers and national healthcare bodies.

Turn strategy into measurable results

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing and Commercial Excellence teams to incorporate market access strategies into account plans, tenders, launches and pathway opportunities.
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects and remove barriers to reimbursement, funding and adoption.
  • Track progress across reimbursement, evidence development, formulary and catalogue inclusion, procurement access and adoption.
  • Demonstrate the commercial impact of market access activity through access wins, increased adoption and revenue enabled or protected.

About you

You'll bring significant experience within market access, reimbursement, health economics, NHS commissioning or MedTech commercial strategy, together with a strong understanding of how medical technologies are funded and adopted within the UK healthcare system.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Substantial market access or reimbursement experience within medical devices, diagnostics or a related MedTech environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK reimbursement and funding routes, with experience across areas such as NHS Drug Tariff Part IX, NICE medical technology or diagnostics evaluations, NHS coding/payment mechanisms, ICB funding, specialised commissioning, formularies, procurement frameworks or tendering.
  • An in-depth understanding of NHS commissioning, budgets and procurement across acute, community and homecare settings.
  • Knowledge of the different market access and HTA environments across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Experience translating clinical and health-economic evidence into compelling payer value propositions, budget-impact models and NHS business cases.
  • Strong relationships and credibility with senior NHS stakeholders.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional programmes within a matrix organisation.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to connect market access activity to product adoption, utilisation and business growth.
  • The ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and manage multiple strategic priorities.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required. A postgraduate qualification in health economics, health policy, public health, life sciences, business or a related discipline would be advantageous.
