Job Description

The Associate Director of Program Management will be responsible for managing cross-functional programs to develop new products and technologies within our R&D organization. The role will require strong project management skills as well as excellent communication and leadership abilities to drive multiple projects through the development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple cross-functional teams in the successful execution of programs to deliver innovative medical devices on time and on budget.
  • Develop comprehensive program plans and monitor progress against key milestones to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align program goals and objectives with business strategy.
  • Manage resources effectively to optimize team performance and productivity.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards throughout the development process.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on program status and address any concerns or issues arising during the course of the project.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between technical and non-technical functions to achieve common goals.
  • Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies early in the development cycle to minimize delays or cost overruns.
  • Document all aspects of the program including project plans, risk assessments, and lessons learned for future reference.

Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • 10+ years of product development and design experience.
  • 3+ years leading cross-functional teams through complex projects or programs.
  • Experience managing projects in a regulated industry such as:
    • Medical Devices
    • Pharmaceuticals
    • Biotechnology

Technical & Functional Knowledge

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and quality systems.
  • Understanding of global regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Experience developing and managing project/program plans.
  • Risk management and mitigation experience.
  • Resource planning and stakeholder management experience.

Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical functions.
  • Experience presenting updates to senior leadership.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Other

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree (MBA, MS Engineering, MS Biomedical Engineering, etc.).

Certifications

  • PMP Certification or equivalent Program/Project Management certification.

Program Management Expertise

  • Formal Program Management experience beyond project management.
  • Experience simultaneously leading multiple product development programs.

Global Experience

  • Direct experience with:
    • FDA
    • MDR (Europe)
    • ANVISA (Brazil)
    • NMPA (China)
  • Experience leading global teams across multiple regions and time zones.

Medical Device Development Experience

  • End-to-end medical device product development experience.
  • Experience bringing products from concept through commercialization.

Tools & Methodologies

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience using:
    • Jira
    • TFS/Azure DevOps
    • Asana
    • Other enterprise PM tools

People Leadership

  • Mentoring or developing junior team members.
  • Prior direct people management experience.

Executive Presence

  • Strong executive communication skills.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.

Salary Range Information

$168,000.00 - $268,800.00 USD Annual
