Job title: Technical Data & Documentation Engineer

Location: Filton, Frimley, Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role

Salary: Up to £51 000 depending on skills and qualifications

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with users of the Data Room Service (from other defence-related companies) to identify and share design, support and maintenance data as appropriate
  • Liaise with Ship Maintenance Management Group desk officers as necessary to secure permission to release third party data
  • Liaise with T45 Data Integration Team (BAE) for access to IETM (interactive electronic technical manual) and specific Data Modules in response to requests for data
  • Provision of advice on accessing Type 45 Approved Data
  • Support to the development of data exploitation tools
  • Use of data exploitation tools for the delivery of a records library service

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Thorough knowledge of complex design data repositories
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports
  • Experience of Configuration and Document Management techniques

Desirable:

  • MATLAB/Python (or other scripting tools) experience
  • Previous experience of warship design and integration deliverables and a working knowledge of company procedures
  • Understanding of whole warship systems, particularly Combat Systems

The Naval Ships Combat Systems Integration Services (CSIS) Professional Services team:

The NS CSIS Team support the Royal Navy in developing and bringing to service future integrated technologies. The team regularly interact with DSTL, Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), Maritime Combat Systems – Integration Authority (MCS-IA), Navy Dev and Missile Defence Centre (MDC) to take capability from the Science and Technology (S&T) space into demonstrated capabilities with a particular focus on Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD).

You will primarily focus on delivering the Type 45 Data Room capability in support of DE&S, this service provides a library capability which protects third party Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) while allowing the authority’s partners to conduct maintenance activities on the Type 45 platforms. In addition, you will support the Professional Services team in developing new ways of working to increase the efficiency of service delivery, and support in other areas, particularly with respect to IAMD.
