Job title: Systems Engineer (Power and Propulsion Solutions)

Location: Rochester – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £34,000

What you’ll be doing:

  • Opportunity to join our Power and Propulsion Solutions (PPS) team that supports our electric powertrains and energy storage systems. These include amongst others our Hybrid-electric vehicles
  • Responsible for performing Engineering tests in support of system development, system integration and vehicle certification activities, including type approval for compliance with EU regulations and directives
  • Ensuring the vehicles are tuned for an optimal solution for total vehicle efficiency and driving performance
  • Responsible for investigations into in-service equipment failures and testing to enable root cause to be understood

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proven experience developing systems in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as control systems, Automotive systems or other safety related systems
  • Experience of conducting engineering investigations
  • Experience using tools for data analysis and simulations such as Excel and Matlab
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific/engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of electric powertrains and high voltage energy storage systems
  • Able to demonstrate and understanding of networked based communication tools (CANBus) e.g. CANalyzer and their uses
  • Familiarisation with Automotive industry standards (ISO 26262, SAEJ1939 etc.)

The Electronic Systems team:

The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defence electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems. Headquartered in Nashua, New Hampshire, ES employs approximately 13,000 people globally, with engineering and manufacturing functions primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom.
