Job Title: Software Architect

Location: Brough – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £ 41,361 +

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work effectively as a Team member within a team of engineers to specify, design, develop, test, document, configure and deliver software
  • Research and design solutions to develop all products to agreed standards and procedures using the specified tools and maintain product quality during development
  • Integrate and test software products sufficiently to ensure minimal, or ideally no re-work is required later in the lifecycle
  • Investigate and resolve problems raised during integration and verification activities
  • Agree to and work to timescales, clearly understanding and providing regular feedback of progress and achievement
  • Communicate effectively. Identifying early potential risks, seeking clarification, feedback and passing on guidance/tuition to team members with less experience
  • Participate in continuous process improvement
  • Understand and comply with BAE Systems policies on security, IT facilities, operating procedures, absence and attendance, time recording, health and safety and business ethics

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant or related engineering field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the full software lifecycle
  • Experience of using one or more of the suitable languages, e.g. Java, C#, Python; or Ada, C, C++
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to other engineers

Desirable:

  • Experience of software toolset development using appropriate standards such as RTCA/DO-330 or RTCA/DO-178C
  • Domain knowledge of Software Architectures
  • Experience of developing high-integrity embedded software
  • Experience of software toolset development
  • Willingness take ownership of development activities and your own development

The Software Architectures Team:

The Software Architectures Team offers a great chance to expand your career and gain valuable experience for more advanced roles within the company. Joining this team means you’ll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects, such as the FCAS programme, which focuses on designing and developing our next-generation System of Systems platforms.

As a Software Architectures Development Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the entire lifecycle of software architecture development. This includes creating embedded software to support various infrastructures and developing the tools needed for their deployment.
