Job Title: Senior Systems Hardware Engineer

Location: Warton -We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £47,683 – £52,426

What you’ll be doing:

· Provide hardware and software support, including installation and maintenance, for Typhoon Production systems and ESS (Engineering Support Sub-System) in the UK, KSA, Qatar, and Oman

· Manage software installation, application administration, and system build documentation for the Typhoon maintenance system ESS

· Support the ESS Support team in resolving customer technical queries, conducting product investigations, and maintaining service level agreements

· Assist with the deployment of new product capabilities for all customers, requiring frequent domestic and international travel, especially to the Middle East

· Manage hardware suppliers and provide inputs into Service Delivery Technical Reviews, ensuring products progress through the engineering lifecycle

· Possess strong knowledge of Cisco, networking operations, Juniper, and Eternus, as well as system administration techniques including Active Directory and Windows 10 infrastructure management

Your skills and experiences:

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Eternus
  • Degree in a STEM field or HND in a STEM subject
  • Experience in IT systems-based roles
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, particularly to the Middle East
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Windows Server installation, 2008R2, 2019, 2022, configuration,, administration and management of Active Directory and Group Policies. In addition to physical servers are virtual servers (VM Ware) hosting roles such as McAfee ePO, Microsoft WSUS, FTP and other server functions as the environment demands
  • Windows 7, 10, 11 client administration/management

Desirable Criteria:

  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Experience supporting customer technical queries and product investigations

The ESS Support team:

The role is responsible for supporting the delivery of hardware products such as the Typhoon Future Engineering Support System (FESS) and the Engineering Support System for Development (ESS-D), which are critical to the operation of our customers’ Typhoon aircraft. The position offers the opportunity to work in a hardware support capacity and collaborate across a diverse range of teams.

Working in the ESS support team involves managing complex systems that are essential for maintaining airworthiness and ensuring the aircraft can fly. The role is critical and highly significant, providing substantial job satisfaction. The environment is pressured but rewarding, as the ESS must be operational to keep the aircraft in the air and maintain accurate maintenance records.
