Job Title: Senior Strategic Procurement Professional

Location: Samlesbury/Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £47,683 plus, depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • With responsibility for one or more suppliers, you will actively manage and drive strategic “Value” related procurement activities for your area of responsibility. You will be undertaking analysis of supplier pricing to ensure value for money, driving cost reductions and delivering complex development programmes. You will ensure effective supplier risk management and supply chain resilience, as well as agreeing contractual terms and conditions
  • Managing the bought-out aspects of development programmes to deliver next generation aerospace and defence capabilities
  • Working cross functionally as a key member of an integrated project team, as well as interfacing across the wider Air business e.g. PM, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, you will lead the supplier management activities across your portfolio
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product or service provision meets the governance requirements of the Business and our Customers and delivers optimum value for money
  • Managing supplier relationships and being the primary interface for commercial and contractual issues, leading supplier performance reviews and supporting Senior Business Reviews with Suppliers and Customers
  • Travelling regularly, largely within UK and mainland Europe, to Suppliers as and when required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive Procurement experience, preferably in a fast paced aerospace, defence, regulated or manufacturing market, ideally with Category/Commodity management experience
  • Proven experience of successfully negotiating Contracts, Pricing, Terms and Conditions
  • A Continuous Improvement mind-set with proven examples of identifying new ideas that drive improvement, problem solving and working collaboratively with others to identify a solution, ideally within a Procurement (or similar) environment
  • A proven ability to collaborate, fostering close and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders by using excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:

  • Ability to compile data, analyse and propose recommendations through reports and presentations
  • CIPS qualification or working towards, other similar qualification, or qualified by experience in transactional procurement
  • Demonstrative working understanding of tool sets and IT such as ERP systems, Tableau, Microsoft Office Excel
  • Individuals with Commercial and Project Management background with transferable skills who wish to secure a cross functional move as part of a longer term career development plan are also welcome to apply
