Job Title: Senior Initial Airworthiness Engineer – Delivery

Location: Filton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £54,793 – £60,326 depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Independent airworthiness assurance activity of design certification (qualification and safety) evidence in support of airworthiness certification for Development, Production and Export clearance programmes
  • Airworthiness focal point for agreeing flight limitations with System Design Responsibility teams, Flight Operations and the external customers
  • Establishing and producing Flight Certification (Military Permit to Fly) for Development and Production Aircraft
  • Establishing and producing Flight Certification (Release to Service) for Export Customers
  • Supporting continuous development of BAE Systems and flight certification and design certification processes
  • Supporting and representing Airworthiness at Typhoon/Tornado/Hawk/FCAS project meetings, including support to external customer meetings
  • Liaising with Customers and senior Stakeholders on Airworthiness & Delivery matters (internal and external)
  • Allocation of tasking to suitably qualified and experienced individuals within the team and may have people responsibilities (PDR, career development plans, aspirations etc)

Your skills and experiences:

  • Aircraft Avionic / Mechanical systems design / Aerodynamic disciplines knowledge
  • Extensive experience within design configuration control processes
  • Design certification (qualification and safety) and airworthiness processes
  • Experience within aircraft operations in a large organisation (desirable)
  • Analytical methods to support establishing integrated aircraft level flight limitations

The Initial Airworthiness Delivery team:

The Initial Airworthiness Delivery team covers current and future aircraft development, production and delivery activities assuring the type airworthiness of the product and its release to service for all customers across the globe. The team also looks after continued Airworthiness inclusive of defect and accident and investigation ensuring the safe operation of the fleets through life
