Job Title: Senior Finance Manager – Rates

Location: Samlesbury. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £64,000 + depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the team in delivering first class rates services with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Supporting the review of Rates Operating Models across the UK Enterprise, while understanding and communicating business and customer impacts
  • Co-ordinate the submission of actual rates to customers and regulators, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and regulations in the preparation of rates claims and lead rates audit activities
  • collaborate with FP&A to assess rates changes
  • Supporting Commercial Leads in discussions with customers on rates agreements and cost allow ability
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with internal and external customer and regulator representatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Co-ordinate rates inputs into the IBP process, overseeing dependencies, timetable adherence, and ensuring robust processes and controls are in place
  • Aiding the development of future rates strategy
  • Deliver Rates and Statutory Guidance Awareness Training to the wider function, while assisting the Head of Rates in developing company guidance on Rates
  • Responsible for leading and managing a team of five direct reports

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with the ability to lead and inspire teams
  • Solid cost base management and financial modelling expertise alongside proven experience in project financial management
  • Experience working on Defence contracts or similar industries (e.g., industrial, aerospace, or government sectors), with an understanding of complex regulatory and contractual environments

Desirable

  • Understanding of UK MOD accounting rules, key stakeholders, and rates assurance processes

The Finance Team:

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking team within the Head Office business, reporting directly to the Head of Rates and Government Contracting. As a team leader responsible for Rates, you will manage a talented group of employees, guiding them in offering rates services to BAE Systems’ Air Sector and beyond. You’ll play a crucial part in ensuring regulatory compliance and developing rates strategy and processes. You will collaborate closely to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Finance function, and engage with external customers, including the MOD.
