Job Title: Senior Engineer – Concessions Management (Systems Engineering)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness

What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as the lead interface between the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) Engineering System Owners and Shipbuilder to manage the acceptance of Product Non-conformance
  • Review and assess submitted Concessions, against recognised Defence Standards and Technical Documents, alongside Subject Matter Experts and formulate and submit a formal response.
  • Act as the SDA representative at the Concessions Management Working Group for the weekly sentencing of Submarine Build Concessions, ensuring due process is followed and that the sentence outcome is in the best interest of the customer.
  • Using a cross area awareness of all Concession Processes and how they interface into each other and support other process reviews as part of continuous improvements
  • Looking ahead and identifying any requirements or development of In-Service Concession Management toolsets that the new Dreadnought Submarine Class may require. Work with those Industry Partners and In-Service teams to enable the development required and pave the path for a seamless transition to the In-Service domain
  • Review Design Changes, liaise with Engineering System Owners and the Alliance Configuration and Change Manager accordingly

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Engineering/STEM degree or equivalent
  • Experience in systems engineering or requirements management
  • Ability to write and review Engineering process documentation

Desirable:

  • Submarine experience through Design or In-Service (Preferable)
  • Proactive to continual improvement
  • Experience in Concession Management

The Dreadnought Alliance Engineering Management Team:

The Dreadnought Alliance is a collaboration between Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems (BAES) and the Ministry of Defence to deliver the ‘Dreadnought Class SSBN’ programme. The programme manages the design, development, and manufacture of the new Dreadnought Class Ballistic Missile Nuclear submarines which form the backbone of the UK defence, in the form of the Continuous at Sea Deterrent. In this role you will work within the Engineering Management Team under the JDA Engineering Manager.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for Concessions Management across the Dreadnought programme. The role rationalises Concession Management activity across the parties and provides a unique opportunity to engage with all areas of build across the whole boat. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
