Job title: Senior Engineer/Safety Case Engineer

Location: Warton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £47,683 – £52,426

What you’ll be doing:

  • Development of safety solutions – both technical engineering solutions as well as safety systems and procedures
  • Performing safety analyses to understand how different components of a system interact and identifying potential failure modes and their consequences
  • Creating comprehensive safety cases that document the safety measures, risk mitigations, and overall safety performance of a system. This documentation is crucial for regulatory compliance and stakeholder understanding; and involves staying up-to-date with changes in regulations and guidelines
  • Effectively communicating safety-related information to diverse stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, project managers, engineers, and other team members. This may involve presenting complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner
  • Supporting safety governance within the Wind Tunnel Department and ensuring multiple operations teams are complying with safety systems and processes
  • Ensuring product records are kept on significant technical information/decisions
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, identify lessons learned from incidents or near-misses, and implement changes to prevent future occurrences
  • Participating in safety audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of safety measures and identify areas for improvement

Your skills and experiences:

  • Experience operating electrical control and mechanical systems in an operational environment
  • Ideally a person with a strong mechanical OR pressure system background
  • Relevant test/facility experience
  • Engineering apprenticeship / Engineering degree

The Wind Tunnel Department:

As a Safety Case Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring complex systems and processes meet the required safety standards and regulations through the development of safety systems / engineering safety solutions across multiple tasks within the Wind Tunnel Department.

You will also be responsible for producing safety case arguments and hazard logs which will be used to approve tasks with local technical authorities and GF&T Chief Engineer.

As a Safety Case Engineer you play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety within BAE Systems. Your work is essential for ensuring that complex systems operate safely in order to protect our operations teams
