Job title: Senior Engineer – Model Based Systems Engineering

Salary: Up to £51,645.00 depending on qualifications and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carry out Functional Modelling and Analysis on complex Platform Systems
  • Carry out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
  • Prepare specifications, develop systems or systems of systems that enhance or improve overall engineering performance
  • Carry out investigations into operational problems, develop and prepare solutions
  • Act as the main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
  • Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
  • Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and Functional Modelling
  • Experience in an Engineering domain – Mechanical, Electrical, C&I, Combat Systems, etc
  • INCOSE SEP certified
  • OMG (Object Management Group) OCSMP (SysML) or OCUP2 (UML) certified

Desirable:

  • Competence in liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good people management skills and experienced in a multi-disciplined engineering environment

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.

Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The MBSE Capability Centre:

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Senior Engineer looking to progress their career within Model Based Systems Engineering, motivated to help modernize the tools, methods and outputs used in systems architecture and design whilst delivering programme-critical model based design definitions and systems analyses.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer (MBSE) for GCS Class-common modelling. This role will involve technical leadership of a sub-team comprised of MBSE Engineers, Associate Engineers, and Early Careers colleagues, in the delivery of the functional modelling and analysis of Key Ship Functions (e.g. provision of Electrical Power Generation and Distribution, Propulsion, Thermal Control or similar), and in development of variant-specific system models traceable to the Class-common design.
