Job Title: Senior Cost Estimator

Location: Barrow-in-Furness or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £40,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Performing scenario simulations and analysis on a micro to macro level to inform key business decisions
  • Data analysis and interrogation to improve estimates and ensure value for money
  • Playing a key role in rationalising and articulating modelling outputs to stakeholders
  • Developing and maintaining internal and external Customer relationships
  • Ensuring that Estimating Processes are understood and implemented throughout the wider organisation
  • Development of modelling and toolset capabilities
  • Support pricing of major MoD, submarine platform and support contracts

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Relevant business experience in Cost Estimating, Business Modelling/Analysis or Finance
  • STEM Subject qualification in Level 5 and above or relevant experience
  • Demonstrable skills in the use of Microsoft packages
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Experience in data modelling and analysis
  • Ability to work in an innovative manner
  • Analytical mindset with excellent numeracy skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with experience in Stakeholder Management
  • Ability to identify areas of improvements

Desirable:

  • Data analysis/visualisation tools e.g. Power BI, Tableau
  • Discrete Event Simulation modelling
  • Programming languages e.g. VBA, MATLAB, Python

The Cost Estimating Modelling and Analysis team:

As a Senior Cost Estimator – Modelling and Analysis, you will be part of the Estimating department within the Commercial function working closely with all areas of the business, across a broad spectrum of tasks, from facility business cases to design studies to whole boat pricing that will give you an excellent understanding of the submarines business and how it operates. Your primary involvement will be to support the business through modelling scenarios and data analysis to influence and inform key business decisions across a wide variety of programmes. Cost Estimating is unique in the breadth of experience and understanding it can offer individuals who choose to work in this exciting, critical business area. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
