Job title: Security Architect

Location: Glasgow, New Malden, Frimley and Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £ 87,000 (depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Recommending security controls and solutions to meet business requirements
  • Assessing the risk associated with proposed system changes and recommending important security-related controls and technologies
  • Providing specialist security advice and recommending approaches
  • Acting as a consultative function to ensure all solution designs adhere to standards and baselines; taking the lead in security-focused solution designs
  • Maintaining a view of the security architecture across our application, information and operational technology environment
  • Ensuring Naval Ships security posture is robust and our risks and required mitigations are clearly understood and documented
  • Establishing standards for security architecture and providing security architectural governance across all technology platforms throughout the organisation

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Background in IT infrastructure and systems design / operations and knowledge of IT Security activities within the defence sector, other highly regulated environments or large organisations.
  • Cyber security infrastructure technologies, including implementation and configuration
  • Conversant with security best practices (e.g. ISO27001 or NIST 800-53) and relevant security legislation
  • Experience working with internal and external service providers to deliver IT systems in a regulated / accredited environment

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a complex, multi-site, federated and decentralised organisation
  • IT Security Architecture experience including TOGAF and/or SABSA
  • CISSP, GIAC, or CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent)

Degree qualified or equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Some disciplines may require a Masters level education. Chartered Engineer, or other relevant, equivalent professional registration. Member of appropriate professional institution, ideally working towards Fellow.

The Cyber Security team:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Cyber team and develop your skills in security technology, design, architecture, analysis, communications, research and innovation. You will be able to build your specialist knowledge, providing expert advice and recommending security approaches across multiple teams and stakeholders. You will gain exposure across the organisation and build opportunities to develop your network, inspire junior members of the team and help influence security principles.
