Job Title: Procurement Professional (Transport & Logistics)

Location: Preston. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £40,000 + Dependent on expeirence

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the delivery of the Indirect Procurement strategy and capability, primarily through taking an active role in the delivery of the transport & logistics category
  • Growing procurement capability in the category
  • Working closely with Business Unit management, Procurement Managers and Category leaders across the organisation to develop, communicate and deliver the strategy for the transport and logistics category
  • Supporting the development of e-procurement, automation and other technology-based solutions to the category
  • Assisting with the negotiation of new and existing supplier contracts to ensure best cost / service to the business
  • Managing suppliers to ensure they are underpinned by a professional and effective business relationship
  • Using system generated data to support business requirements and monitor supplier performance
  • Sourcing and negotiating business requirements in a highly capable and professional manner
  • Development of an ESG roadmap within the assigned categories with agreed objectives

Your skills and experiences:

Essential skills

  • Supply chain management experience
  • Sound understanding of business and procurement approaches, techniques and processes
  • Proven communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Supplier management experience
  • Ability to demonstrate innovative thinking in processes and procedures

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of logistics category management
  • Category management experience
  • Project management skills
  • CIPS qualification or a willingness to working towards

You will be coming into a brand-new role, created to support growth within the business, this will give you a great level of exposure to global stakeholders, through involvement in global strategy of the transport & logistics. This will be achieved by managing suppliers in our global network and is a chance to make the role your own.
