Job Description

Job title: Principal Engineer – Support Engineering (RCM)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conducting RCM analysis of Combat Systems, Platform and Secondary Propulsion systems for Dreadnought Program. To define the maintenance requirement to maintain operational capability.
  • Deliver RCM studies, Operating Contexts and post-analysis reports to agreed scope, quality and timescales, and in accordance with DEFSTAN 00-045 and BR1313A methodology
  • Derive appropriate maintenance schedules using RCM techniques
  • Provide appropriate RCM knowledge and input for Engineering Design Reviews
  • Convene and attend maintenance-related meetings with internal and external organisations
  • Facilitate Studies, Sourcing relevant information to inform the analysis and liaising with Industry partners to gain understanding of the requirements and operating conditions to drive an effective maintenance solution that will be agreed with the MOD

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive level of domain knowledge over the full range of RCM activities and how they relate to ILS and Safety
  • Experience of delivering RCM tasks in appropriate phases of the programme lifecycle
  • Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle and how support activities align to it, with some experience of operating in a number of phases
  • Provides technical leadership, coaches and mentors others

Desirables:

  • Degree level qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment

The RCM Support Team:

Working within the RCM support team, you will take on analysis of all platform, secondary propulsion & combat systems on the Submarine. The team drive the maintenance solution using technical data from the original equipment manufacturers, design teams and from the ministry of defence.

The role will open up the opportunity to work on a once in a lifetime engineering project. Every day is eye opening as you delve into a multitude of different system that will have different engineering problems to understand and solve. With the final solution helping to protect the crew whilst they are at sea and maintain the Submarine’s operations keeping us all safe.
