Job Description
Job title: Principal Engineer – Outfit
Location: Scotstoun – Glasgow, Bristol, Portsmouth other UK locations also considered. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role
Salary: Up to 52,300 depending on qualifications and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Support and review Outfit, including but not limited to; Technical Specifications, Keyplans, Drawings, Design Reviews, Change Requests, Change Impact Assessment
- Develop designs in line with all specifications & standards
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification
- Line management of the outfit engineering team
- Manage product safety hazards within area of responsibility
- Co-ordinate with systems engineers, detail designers and operations on the integration of outfit systems
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Experience and knowledge of Marine Outfit systems with the experience to support system and spatial integration activities with other disciplines
- Stage 1 design experience
- Experience working in Naval or Aerospace engineering, within a highly regulated industry
Desirable:
- Experience writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications
- Experience in creating and reviewing vessel Keyplans
- Previous Line Management/People Management experience
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution

The Outfit Engineering team:
As a part of this role, you will carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements. This role will provide you with opportunity to work on subject matter interesting long term project projects and as well career development with BAE Systems.
