Job Title: Principal Engineer – Design Zone Integration

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £60,100 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prompting the delivery of the Design Zone Integration process and associated gated Design Reviews for all Design Zones across the Canadian River Class Destroyer Platform
  • Coordinating the progress of Design Zone maturity, as each Design Zone progresses from functional design into detail design and then production readiness along with ensuring that all quality and technical standards are met
  • Blending design inputs from multi-discipline design teams and external stakeholders to achieve the required design maturity
  • Addressing cross-functional design integration issues, developing, and preparing solutions both individually and as a member of a cross-discipline team
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of engineers at different project stages to deliver engineering work and services, by working closely with team members from various backgrounds and interacting with program leaders, customers, and suppliers
  • Ensuring engineering processes and procedures to reflect technical changes and operational requirements

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience in engineering design and design integration; this can be from either a functional, detail design or systems engineering background
  • Delivery of engineering work packages by providing inputs to Design Reviews and working within Engineering Governance Frameworks
  • Ability to drive the performance and delivery of an engineering project through collaboration and influencing skills

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in the shipbuilding industry

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.

Applicants should ideally be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Design Zone Integration team:

This role offers you the opportunity to be involved in the exciting Canadian River Class Destroyer programme, in which you will work alongside various Engineering and Project Management team, along with a range of industry partners across the UK and Canada. Reporting directly into the Senior Engineering Manager and working within a team of other Senior and Principal Engineers you will be involved in ensuring the deliverables are being met. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn and develop with support and guidance to allow you to progress your career further, there may also be the chance for overseas travel.
