Job title: Principal Communications Design Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Filton, Weymouth, Portsmouth BroadOak, Brough, Manchester or Frimley – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £45,628+ dependant of experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution and change management
  • Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities
  • Produce documentation required to support the design review process, including: diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications
  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers
  • Review relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proven track record of system or equipment design in Audio/Visual Electronics
  • Demonstrable experience of working in different engineering lifecycle phases
  • A relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or, Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification and experience within an engineering background
  • Technical report writing skills and experienced in requirements definition and management

Desirable

  • Have or be working toward relevant Professional Registration (Ceng)
  • Experience of system or equipment design in a range of wireless access technologies

The Platform Complex Systems Delivery team:

You will be helping to define and shape the design of the Royal Navy’s next generation attack class submarine and will be working to implement novel Audio and Visual communications technology and concepts whilst collaborating with colleagues within the Integrated Combat Systems business, wider stakeholders, suppliers and the Royal Navy. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
