Job Title: Operations Performance Lead – Ancillary & Support

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Circa £55,000 commensurate with skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and manage Team Leaders and Team Leader Supports within the ancillary, lifting and support functions, ensuring performance aligns with company standards and professional behaviours
  • Optimise resource allocation and utilisation by reviewing strategies and schedules to maximise workforce efficiency and programme delivery
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, aligning with operational excellence goals and the broader Warship Support team’s objectives
  • Monitor and assess sub-contracted work levels, evaluating opportunities for in-house resource utilisation through outsourcing versus internal capability analysis
  • Ensure high standards for health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a culture of risk awareness, incident reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Review and optimise shift patterns, working hours, and flexible work arrangements to improve workforce efficiency and productivity

Your skills and experiences:

  • Qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical) or extensive knowledge and experience in a directly related field (e.g., Resourcing, Recruitment, Business Management, Project Management)
  • In-depth understanding of resource management and workforce planning and extensive knowledge of discipline-specific processes and procedures necessary for executing trade-related tasks
  • Familiarity with conducting monthly business reviews, Integrated Business Planning (IBP), and budgeting
  • Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and negotiate outcomes effectively and supports the development of solutions and the implementation of strategic approaches

The Operations Performance Ancillary & Support Team:

The Operations Performance Lead in Ancillary & Support is responsible for supporting the Operational Performance Manager in optimising workforce performance and ensuring programme continuity. The team consists of slingers (riggers) and a large team of contractors.
