Job title: Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £45,383+ dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to more senior employees and directly to the customer
- Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process
- The generation of design and/or manufacturing detailed design through Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and drawings
- Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
- Participating in developing, maintaining, and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
Your skills and experiences:
- Educated to degree level (or working towards) in a relevant engineering discipline, or to HNC level with relevant experience
- Experience producing and analysing concept designs, as well as writing and presenting technical reports and specifications
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to produce designs to customer requirements
- Working experience using CAD software (e.g. CREO Parametrics) and PLM software (e.g. Teamcenter)
- Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards and standard instructions (i.e. Business Management System and Product Life Cycle Model)

The Weapon Systems UK Engineering team:
The Weapon Systems Engineering team is approximately 70 strong with a family feel due to its size. The size of the Weapons business allows for Engineers to see the whole product lifecycle from a blank canvas, through development, into production, into service and ultimately into retirement.
As part of the Weapon Systems Engineering team, you will be working on new and / or existing Products (i.e. M777 towed howitzer, 4.5” MK.8 MOD 1 Naval Gun, AS90 Self Propelled Howitzer & 105 Light Gun), through all stages: from the initial concept; design and development; testing, through to final manufacture and implementation of a new product or sub-system.
There is opportunity to develop your career further within this role through training and a clear mapped out career progression structure.
