Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £41,000 depending on skills and experiences

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing optimised maintenance work-packages for allocated platform class using analysis of UMMS database, ships staff feedback and outputs from improved condition monitoring / material state assessments
  • Assessing maintenance costs and defect trend/prediction across the class, investigating to identify underlying root causes
  • Maintaining continuous assessment of material state for designated platform / systems, monitoring and updating as required
  • Report weekly performance
  • Producing well written and explicit work packages which can be readily planned and estimated by the delivery teams
  • Reflect maintenance pertaining to classification within the work package
  • Maintaining effective relationships within the COM (Class Output Management) and Waterfront Service Provider as well as engineers across the wider enterprise (Partner / Supplier communities)

Your skills and experiences:

  • ONC/HNC/HND/Degree level education in an engineering discipline or equivalent working experience
  • Specialist engineering knowledge and experience in a subject area
  • Working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle
  • Aware of and adhere to statutory regulations (including those of Information Systems, Safety Health & Environment and Security Requirements)

The maintenance management team:

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for producing optimised work packages using scheduled information extracted from the Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) database and undertaking detailed root cause analysis of material state and failure trends, to enable work packages to be optimised.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with various stakeholders both internally and externally. There will be opportunities for wider development within BAE Systems.
