Job Title: Legal Counsel (UK Central Legal Team)

Location: Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide in-depth, professional, timely and pro-active legal support to internal clients on a broad portfolio of matters
  • Provide support to business wide Legal functional projects and initiatives
  • Be a part of a culture delivering the highest standards of legal advice to internal clients, through accuracy, promptness and clarity of advice
  • Contribute effectively to business performance in an advisory and consultative capacity, providing advice in simple language that is easy for the business client to understand
  • Manage the provision of external legal support to the business to deliver the highest quality of legal advice in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Contribute fully as a member of the Global Legal community and leverage/share knowledge and capability, including effective collaboration across the Legal function and business to help deliver strategy
  • Facilitate or provide training on matters of law and policy
  • Ensure consistent application of the Company’s Operational Framework and other Company legal policies as applicable
  • Develop strong business relationships with key stakeholders and work as a true business partner

Your skills and experiences:

  • UK qualified solicitor or barrister with a proven background in non-contentious commercial law gained at a major law firm/appropriate in-house experience
  • Experience assessing and advising in relation to the management of legal and regulatory risk, as well as drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts in an international environment
  • Good understanding of commercial legal principles and business practice in a range of international markets

Desirable:

  • A specialist skill set such as UK Government contracting/defence sector experience, competition law experience, IT contracting experience or product safety/product liability experience

The UK Central Legal Team:

As a Legal Counsel in the UK Central Legal Team you will provide full range legal support, as required, to Group functions and to parts of the UK business, advising on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters as well as other legal and regulatory issues affecting the Group, including in relation to Ministry of Defence terms of trade. The role will provide you with broad and varied job responsibilities and you will work with a number of key stakeholders across the business, and work as a true business partner.
