Job Title: Head of Cyber Security

Location: Glasgow, Filton or Portsmouth, or any UK based site. Flexibility to work from home/remote work with ad hoc on-site presence for workshops.

Salary: Up to £100,000 dependent on skills and experience, plus executive benefits, including bonus and car allowance

What you’ll be doing:

  • Defines and deploys the Cyber Security standards for Naval Ships, ensuring compliance with the Global Cyber Security Standards, the Security Policy Framework and leveraging other appropriate standards such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Scheme and other relevant Government frameworks
  • Acts as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers and supports the safeguard of information through supporting business change by building relationships with and between senior strategists, planners, designers and operational business partners
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of the external security environment; developing plans, policies and processes for security risk management, managing the security programme and resourcing requirements where applicable
  • Lead the response to Cyber Security incidents and breaches including establishing and maintaining a Cyber Incident response plan
  • Setting strategic goals and priorities for the Cyber Security team, with clear KPI’s that track, manage and measure overall performance and communicate progress where appropriate
  • Ensuring people development, learning and capability development is structured into an overall Cyber Security People Plan
  • Leading and managing the ongoing investment cycle through consolidating and prioritising proposals and aligning technology with business outcomes and efficiency
  • Establish and effectively leading all planning cycles including business plan, annual budgeting, budget previsioning and operational plans
  • Continually seek opportunities for improvement in security deliverables, driving cost improvement and cost reduction whilst maintaining security good practice aligned to business risk appetite

Your skills and experiences:

  • Strong Knowledge of Information/IT Security activities within the defence sector, maritime or closely linked domain
  • Expert level of cyber security infrastructure technologies, their implementation and configuration
  • IT Security Architecture experience including TOGAF and/or SABSA
  • Conversant with security best practices (including ISO27001 and/or NIST 800-53) and relevant security legislation
  • Will have achieved certification as a CISSP, GIAC or CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust methodology
  • Extensive experience of working with internal or external service providers to deliver IT systems in a regulated / accredited environment
  • Experience of working in a complex, multi-site, federated and decentralised organisation

The IM&T (Information Management & Technology) team:

You will be joining at an exciting time as we grow to meet current program needs in the UK and recent export wins including the Hunter Class Frigate for the Australian Navy and the Canadian Surface Combatant.

The Head of Cyber role is responsible for the overall cyber security architecture across Naval Ships.

The role is responsible for maintaining a view of the current security estate, developing, and communicating our current and future security architectures including areas for improvement and working closely with the IM&T team, Information Security, the wider business, as well as external suppliers.
