Job Title: Finance Business Partner

Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: From £70,000 depending on skills and experience plus executive benefits

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working alongside the Head of Underwater Battlespace and Autonomy (UWBA) and their delivery teams to drive operational and financial performance for the business within Maritime Services delivering against in year and long-term plans and targets
  • Using business acumen, providing financial challenge and due diligence of any new business activity to enable approval of pricing proposals and delivery of the business strategy balancing long term customer need with maximising shareholder value
  • Identifying business trends, risks, and opportunities, translating these into corrective actions and assessing the financial impact of business decisions against the Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
  • Collaborating on new product development proposals to ensure competitive returns on investment, supporting strategic business decisions
  • Working with Project Finance, Project Management and Business Managers to provide relevant, timely information and challenge for reviews
  • Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and driving performance improvements across multi-functional teams at senior levels to drive business improvements
  • Responsibility for the efficient deployment of working capital and ensuring maximum value from company investments in product capability improvements

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA/ACA
  • Proven experience supporting the delivery of long-term, complex programmes or projects
  • Strong ability to proactively influence the business with an inquisitive nature
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to changing and challenging customer requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance staff and present complex issues and opportunities in a clear, compelling manner

Desirable:

  • Experience as a Finance Business Partner, engaging with non-finance staff and providing decision support to stakeholders
  • Experience in driving programme performance through integrated teams

The Maritime Services Finance team:

Become a Finance Business Partner for the Underwater Battlespace and Autonomy Team by joining our Maritime Services Finance team. You will lead the team, produce financial returns, and promote improvements in business performance in this position. You will concentrate on striking a balance between risk mitigation, product development, and existing obligations. Effective collaboration with stakeholders requires excellent communication and influencing abilities when working in a multi-functional team.
