Job Title: FCAS Through-Life Engineering Service Design Lead

Location: Warton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £54,793+ Depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the engagement with Customer and Industry SMEs to elicit, understand and capture user and system requirements for FCAS Through-Life Engineering Services
  • Developing concepts and philosophies for how through-life engineering services will be implemented, managed and delivered end-to-end for FCAS
  • Developing service specifications during the design & development phase of the programme, and then overseeing service implementation and mobilisation during the transition to in-service phase
  • Developing use cases and running workshops to understand where through-life engineering services can be optimised and improvements made on how future engineering services will be delivered compared to previous generation platforms
  • Ensuring that the through-life engineering service design meets regulatory requirements (e.g. Military Aviation Authority design organisation regulations)
  • Working closely with system architects to capture model-based representations of the service system (including people, processes, toolsets, technologies and information exchanges).
  • Ensuring integration of the through-life engineering service design with other product and service development areas on the programme, such as ensuring the requirements for IT, digital and physical infrastructure, as well as interfaces with the air platform itself, are elicited and communicated
  • Producing strategies & plans throughout the lifecycle for the development and implementation of the through-life engineering service solution
  • Planning and co-ordinating team tasking for a small team, leading the inputs to planning sessions and reviews, and contributing to schedules of work around service design deliverables

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • HND Level 5 or Degree level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/Maths/Science/IT)
  • Experience in providing through-life engineering support or through-life engineering modification/upgrade services
  • Experience in service design, service transition/implementation, or service delivery (preferably in a military or aerospace environment)
  • Knowledge of through-life responsibilities of a Design Organisation and how these can be delivered under a service arrangement

Desirable:

  • Experience in any of the following disciplines of through-life engineering: Product Integrity Management, Modifications & Upgrades, Obsolescence Management, Technical Support/In-Service Support, Product or Support Optimisation, Through-Life/Continued Airworthiness, Technical Information Management
  • Awareness of the PAS-280 Through-Life Engineering Services framework
  • Knowledge of MAA 5000-series regulations and the through-life responsibilities of Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS) approval holders

The Through Life Engineering team:

As the FCAS Logistics Information System Lead, you will lead a team to define requirements and develop concepts for a future logistics information system that will meet the through-life needs of a 6th generation combat air platform, within a System of Systems environment.

There will be no ‘perfect fit’ for this role. We are looking for information system designers or information system architects with broad experience and an appetite to learn how to apply their core knowledge to the maintenance, logistics and through-life support domain whilst working in a truly multi-disciplined environment.
