Job Title: FCAS Systems of Systems Architect Engineer

Location: Warton or Brough. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £47,683 – £52,426 depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Helping to develop concepts for Future of Combat Air System (FCAS)
  • Leading or supporting technical studies to inform system requirements, architecture, concepts
  • Supporting assessment of system concepts e.g., technical viability, adaptability, interoperability
  • Attending/leading meetings and workshops to progress studies
  • Contributing your expertise to understanding of risks, assumptions dependencies
  • Attending planning and coordination meetings and reporting on your work

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • You will be degree educated in a STEM discipline or HND/HNC with sound experience of the Engineering Lifecycle
  • You will have experience of Model Based Engineering approaches and the supporting methods and toolsets
  • Experience in an engineering integration environment
  • You will be a good communicator at all levels of an organisation with the ability to forge partnerships with internal and external customers

Desirable:

  • It would be preferred if you have experience of structured tool sets such as MooD and Cameo
  • You should be able to coordinate and manage programmes

The FCAS Systems of Systems Integration team:

Future Combat Air System (FCAS) is a once in a generation programme that will deliver the United Kingdom’s next generation combat air capability. This exciting and rewarding role will help develop a technical architecture that will endure for decades and assemble concepts to meet challenging user needs.

You will be working at the edge of what is technologically possible, shaping the future to ensure our customers are ready to face challenges we cannot even imagine today. You will be developing and evolving the technologies that will defend the UK for generations to come and supporting our customers around the globe.

You will be part of a growing team. The culture is one where you are trusted to manage your own work, come up with suggestions and take initiative. While we have a wealth of engineering background, some of the work we are doing requires the team (in collaboration with Customer and Subject Matter Experts) to develop, validate and apply innovative new approaches.

The System of Systems Integration team manages the integration of the component parts, into a cohesive, effective, whole system, define customer requirements and Systems Engineering approaches across the engineering disciplines, utilise systems engineering methods, criteria and techniques to optimise all aspects of safety throughout the lifecycle and developing solutions to meet the customer requirements.
