Job title: FCAS Support & Test Equipment Lead

Location: Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £54,793 dependant on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the engagement with Customer and Industry SMEs to elicit, understand and capture user and system requirements for FCAS Support & Test Equipment
  • Developing concepts and philosophies for design, acquisition, mobilisation and in-service operation of Support and Test Equipment
  • Developing specifications for new Support and Test Equipment aligned to the outputs of the platform supportability analysis/maintenance task analysis
  • Identifying opportunities for existing/legacy platform Support and Test Equipment re-use or upgrade
  • Working with stakeholders across other programme teams to integrate Support & Test Equipment requirements (e.g. core platform interfaces, infrastructure & facilities design, safety and security)
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain & Procurement teams on early selection and engagement of Support & Test Equipment suppliers to communicate requirements and identify long lead-time equipment items
  • Producing strategies & plans for the design, development, test, qualification, certification, installation and commissioning of Support and Test Equipment
  • Planning and co-ordinating team tasking, leading the inputs to planning sessions and reviews, and contributing to schedules of work around Support and Test Equipment deliverables

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • HND Level 5 or Degree level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/Maths/Science/IT)
  • Experience in Support & Test Equipment specification, design and development
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers on design, procurement and commissioning
  • Experience of applying relevant skills across the Systems Engineering lifecycle e.g. Requirements Engineering, Solution Design, Integration, Verification & Validation, Test & Qualification

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of aerospace/aviation Support and Test Equipment, both on-aircraft and off-aircraft
  • Knowledge of the principles of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with any of the following – UK MOD Knowledge in Defence (KiD), Support Solution Envelope 21 (SSE21), Integrated Logistics Support (Def-Stan 00-600), ASD/AIA S-Series Integrated Product Support (IPS) specifications

The Procurement team:

We currently have an opportunity available within our Air Sector business, focussed on developing concepts and defining the requirements for Support & Test Equipment on the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme.

The next generation combat air system at the heart of the FCAS programme will need an equivalently next generation support solution to meet the performance and capability requirements of the customer. A key part of developing the support solution is identifying and designing the future Support and Test Equipment that will be needed to operate, maintain, repair and upgrade the platform.

As the FCAS Support & Test Equipment Lead, you will lead a team to define requirements and develop specifications for a suite of ground-based aerospace support and test equipment – of varying types and complexities – that will meet the through-life needs of a 6th generation combat air platform.
