Job Title: Export Control Officer

Location: Broad Oak, Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £38,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Serving as a support contact for day-to-day advice on export control regulations and procedures
  • Assisting with export control investigations, disclosure letters, corrective actions, and root cause analysis reviews
  • Reviewing and developing business export controls processes and user guides; conducting compliance audits
  • Implementing export control policies and processes, and preparing/delivering training to ensure stakeholder awareness
  • Drafting and submitting UK export licence requests, EAR licence requests, and ITAR general correspondence
  • Performing export control assurance activities
  • Identifying export control risks and supporting risk reviews

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability of engaging with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise, organise, and proactively manage tasks
  • Understanding of working to policies and processes

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role involving Export Controls
  • A background in compliance
  • Auditing experience

The Export Control team:

An exciting opportunity to work with one of the world leaders in Export Control, at the forefront of the industry as you support within Combat Systems as part of the Naval Ships business. Enjoy a wide range of opportunities across the function, including collaborating with similar teams in other business units across BAE Systems. You’ll have the expectation and encouragement to reach out to the group, gaining exposure to various areas and build you export control network. Working alongside other Export Control officers and report directly to the Export Control Manager, you’ll have the chance to attend conferences and training, with ample opportunities for learning and development within the team and through external training.
