Job Title: Consultant Engineer – Combat Systems (Technical Authority)

Location: Bristol/Filton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £56,000+ depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reporting progress and highlight any interface and/or delivery programmes that place the Dreadnought Programme at risk
  • Design delegation for specified areas of the Combat Systems for Dreadnought (specific systems TBA), including requirement sign off and acceptance
  • Review and development of Combat system sea trials programme
  • Support the integration and assurance of the Combat Systems (CS) into the Dreadnought submarine. You will be responsible to the Alliance Deputy Chief Engineer (ADCE) for the management of the submarine CS design covering Functional, Spatial and interface aspects
  • You will be required to interact with the Combat Systems Delivery Team (CSDT) and provide assurance that the development of the CS meets its requirements, and that the product is fit-for-purpose
  • Initiation and/or review of design change documentation

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate National Level 6 Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Member of a relevant, recognised professional engineering institution.
  • Detailed domain knowledge of UK Submarines

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of submarine Combat systems is advantageous
  • Chartered Engineer, or working towards, is advantageous
  • Experience of Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering

The Dreadnought Alliance team:

The Dreadnought Alliance is a collaboration between Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems (BAES) and the Ministry of Defence to deliver the ‘Dreadnought Class SSBN’ programme. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD).

This post is part of the Joint Design Authority within the Dreadnought Alliance, which is the Platform & Whole Boat Design Authority for Dreadnought, structured around the Alliance Project Team engineering team and BAES Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) team.
