Job title: Communications Manager – Visits & Events

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working closely with the Managing Director and leadership team to devise a programme of internal and external visits, events and conferences for BAE Systems Submarines business
  • Leading on the organisation, management and delivery of all internal events, visits and conferences including senior stakeholder visits (internal and external), major programme milestone events, e.g. naming ceremonies and leadership conferences
  • Provide strategic advice to the senior leadership team around their own team events, visits and conferences

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders with a strong customer focus and the ability to communicate with people at all levels effectively
  • Expert knowledge of core communications principles, techniques and skills
  • Experience of people management, must be able to lead projects as part of a team
  • Ability to influence and coach to support the achievement of business priorities

Desirable:

  • Degree and/or relevant professional certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of operating within a customer environment
  • Understanding of the markets in which BAE System operates, as well as its competitors

The Communications Team

We’re looking for a Communications Manager, to lead the organisation and delivery of all visits and events in our Submarines business. In this exciting role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the visitor experience for a wide range of senior visitors to our Barrow site, from politicians and Royals to business leaders and major suppliers.

As an integral member of the Communications team, you’ll work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, to develop engaging and informative visit programmes to help showcase the amazing products our employees design and build.

In addition to a high volume of visits, you’ll also take the lead in the end-to-end organisation and delivery of major events, including traditional submarine naming ceremonies, which typically involve hundreds of guests.

This is a busy, demanding and hugely rewarding role, where you’ll take great pride in supporting the delivery of a truly national endeavour.
