Job Title: Commercial Finance Manager

Location: Guildford, hybrid – You would be required to attend the office in line with business needs, usually a few times per month

What you’ll be doing

You will be at the forefront of discussions with varied stakeholders, a key player in decision making, challenging the status quo and influential in strategy formulation/ implementation. You will be comfortable with bringing a level of gravitas to dealing with ambiguity, focussed on business outcomes whilst consistently delivering on business obligations. Adapting to cultural and relational considerations, you will lead development and maintenance of good, trusted stakeholder relationships.

  • Financial ownership of assigned bid opportunities throughout the bid lifecycle to bid submission. This includes understanding the key cost levers which drive gross margin as well as understanding the price to win and levers for bid scoring to ensure we increase our win rate;
  • An expert on our pricing models;
  • Knowledgeable on our competitors and how we need to position our bid to be successful;
  • Ensure we follow an effective bid governance process as outlined by BAE policy;
  • Active collaboration and partnering with colleagues in finance teams to ensure target margins are appropriate;
  • Support of process improvements in the bid and project management process;
  • Presentation of timely, accurate and complex financial information in a clear and simple format to stakeholders from across the organisation;
  • Development of colleagues in business winning skills, whether within the function or outside, to ensure appropriate practices are followed;
  • Delivery of insightful and actionable management information as required;
  • Understand the concepts of Overheads and recovery methods and their role in assisting the business manage net profitability.

Your skills and experiences

Qualified Accountant with considerable post qualified experience

Experience in bidding into UK Government an advantage

Exceptional commercial acumen including an understanding of pricing strategies and cost recovery models

Experience in driving cost savings and margin improvement

Excellent leadership and influencing skills

High attention to detail

Experience of working across cultures and time zones (desirable)

Understanding of key performance indicators and how these support the delivery of insightful management information

Experience of working to tight timescales and consistently meeting deadlines

Ability to work effectively in a cross function team and at various seniority levels in the organisation
