Job Description
Job title: Chief Engineer – ATM
Location: Glascoed
Salary: Circa £75,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Delegating of Engineering Authority (EA) for the IDT Products and services.
- Leadership and management of all engineers allocated to the IDT
- Collaborating with customers, suppliers, and partners
- Promoting professionalism of engineering by active mentoring and coaching within BAE Systems and by participating in external bodies and international organisations
- Chairing Independent Design Reviews and/or Technical Bid Reviews as appropriate
- Managing directly and overseeing indirectly the technical delivery of multiple projects, including compliance, quality and delivery to cost and time
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent experience within an engineering discipline and recognised through CENG or demonstrable evidence of development plan towards chartership
- Programme experience at senior level – concept, design, build, update/upgrade and support
- Experience of working in a senior engineering role on that has demonstrated relevant domain knowledge and leadership skills
Desirable:
- Detailed and comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, concepts, systems, theories and practices
- Experience in Life Cycle Management reviews of bids and programmes
- Experience of Product Safety in complex product and service environment

The Artillery, Tank and Mortar Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) Team:
As a Chief Engineer, you will lead a multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver against IDT outcomes whilst being responsible and accountable for the integrity of product and services.
As well as working with customers to understand and agree requirements, technical strategy, integrity, product safety and compliance with contractual, legal & regulatory requirements, environmental standards for the delivered solutions.
