Job Description
Job title: Building Custodian
Location: Portsmouth Naval Base – Onsite
Salary: Up to £34,716 commensurate on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Act as the point of contact for building occupants reporting SHE related issues, defects, projects, cleaning/waste, office moves
- Lead all SHE activities and promote good behaviours to building occupants
- Oversee Fire alarm testing, evacuation drills and compliance for specified buildings under the responsibility of the Building Coordinator
- Provide a briefing to new occupants of the building to cover domestics, safety, and security
- Maintain close liaisons with the contractors and project teams / team leaders to ensure staff movements and building works progress smoothly
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Strong Communication skills and stakeholder management skills
- Have previous experience dealing with sub-contractors and ensuring their timely rectification of building issues and inspect quality of work
- Be proficient in the use of appropriate IT packages including Microsoft Office Applications
Desirable:
- Have a good knowledge of SHE and Facilities Maintenance processes
- First aid trained
- Previous experience in a maritime environment would be advantageous but not essential

The Building Custodians Team:
As a part of the Building Custodians Team, you will have the opportunity to work with various teams delivering ship programs. You will work closely with other team members managing fixes and solving issues to ensure smooth running of the site. You will receive training with further career development opportunities.
