Job title: Assistant Project Leader-Designer Management Hull & Outfit
Location: Barrow in Furness- We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: £40,748+ Dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Support and lead a team of Designers who will have different levels of experience and knowledge across the Submarine business in Hull and Outfit design
- Attending and supporting meetings across the Dreadnought Programme providing updates to key Stakeholders and raising issues where needed
- Support the Dreadnought programme in delivering to schedule, cost, safety and quality
- You will be responsible for supporting the project leader with the development of members of your team in your people management hierarchy e.g. PDR’s, PDP, Quality / Code of Conduct discussions and training needs etc
- Work with all stakeholder groups to solve problems and drive solutions between design requirements, spatial constraints, build and operability
- Responsibility for the delivery of specialist structure, including outputs, models and other manufacturing data
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Engineering or Designer / Draughtspersons background
- Understanding of Engineering Standards and their processes
- Experience of 2D/3D CAD Modelling
Desirable
- Experience of working through various design and build stages including concept and detail design
- Experience working through various design stages and build i.e. Concept and Detail Design
- Understanding of CAD modelling techniques and PLM toolsets e.g. Teamcenter
- HNC qualifications or recognise apprenticeship
- Foran, CAD Software experience
- Proven past leadership experience (principal or lead roles, mentoring a team)

The Specialist Structures Design team:
You will be a leading member of the SSD team on Dreadnought, which is responsible in aiding operations in building the boat through handling, shipping, transportation equipment, blocking and jig outputs. Through business wide stakeholder engagement we enable ourselves to deliver outputs to support key build activities. This role is a great opportunity to start out your management career by having the responsibility of leading and coaching a team of designers while also having some technical role duties. The Dreadnought programme is a fast paced and an exciting place to work on and there are lots of opportunities to develop yourself and others.
