The opportunity

Data is a critical component at Attest, and our data engineering experts are tasked with the primary mission of facilitating efficient and reliable data processing. Our Data Engineers are vital to the data lifecycle, as they are responsible for designing, constructing, testing, and maintaining our data architecture and infrastructure.

The team works collaboratively across various functions and is accountable for several aspects of data management. These include data modelling, data pipeline management, machine learning (ML) deployment, and performance optimization. The primary focus of our Data Engineers is to ensure scalability and resilience in our data infrastructure. By doing so, Attest can deliver top-quality data-driven insights and analytics to our clients, enabling them to make informed business decisions.

Salary

The salary range for this role is £85,000 to £105,000.

At Attest our engineering roles are levelled. For this particular role we are open to hiring candidates across 2 different levels which is why the range is so broad. If your expectations align at either end of the band (or somewhere in between!) Please do apply and we can share more about our internal levelling during the interview process.

In person and remote working balance

One of our core values is to Generate Outcomes. This means that we value Outputs>Inputs and believe that people are most productive when they get to choose how, where, and when they work. We also believe that collaboration IRL is important and we encourage Attesters to come into the office at least 1 or 2 days a week. Find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

Your focus will be….

  • Take potentially complex and/or ambiguous opportunities and work with other disciplines (product, research, engineering, marketing, customer success) to turn them into problems that can be solved iteratively with the data team.
  • Support both technical and non-technical folk by setting an example and promoting good data governance and practices across Attest.
  • Proactively identify and lead data engineering initiatives, focusing and prioritising work that helps support our business goals
  • Develop and enhance our existing data analytics platform and data products.
  • Maintain the analytics infrastructure to enable Attest to make data-informed decisions.
  • Build tooling to support the machine learning (ML) model development life-cycle, including experimentation, logging, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Design and architect infrastructure to manage data assets, models, and codes.
  • Implement ETL pipelines to ingest and process data from various sources.

We’d love to hear from you, if…

  • You have worked as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer previously.
  • You are proactive, bringing ideas to the table, identifying data engineering opportunities and presenting well-thought-out solutions.
  • You enjoy collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver a wide range of business initiatives.
  • You have designed and built data architectures or contributed to the development of data pipelines.
  • You have owned and maintained infrastructure for data processing and reporting, including data warehousing, data modelling, or data governance.
  • You have hands-on experience in building tooling to support and optimise the ML model development lifecycle, including experimentation, logging, deployment, and monitoring capabilities. Familiarity with MLOps tools and methodologies is a plus.
  • You are proficient in programming languages like Python and experience working with relational SQL and NoSQL databases. Familiarity with data engineering tools such as MLFlow, Kubernetes, dbt, Terraform, and Redshift is preferred.

What’s in it for you…

  • Chance to lead and shape data engineering initiatives.
  • Experience in a dynamic and team-oriented work environment, collaborating with a wide range of individuals with vast experiences where you can learn from each other.
  • Improve and expand your proficiency in Data Science related areas.
  • Opportunities for personal growth and learning.
  • Be part of an innovative cross-collaborative team where your ideas and solutions are valued and implemented.
  • Benefits to support your career development and growth, including a career growth and development budget of £20 per month which can be accrued over the year. We’ll even give you £300 to set up your home office.
  • We offer benefits that support your physical and mental health. These include enhanced sick pay, a £40 per month wellness allowance to spend on things that matter to your wellbeing which can be spent on a monthly basis or saved up for larger purchases over the year, and access to private and confidential coaching via Sanctus.
  • 25 days paid holiday per year. This is in addition to local public holidays and an additional 2 days off around the festive season. You can also take one month's fully paid sabbatical after 4 years service.
  • Spend up to 2 paid days per month – we call it 10% time – giving back to your community or supporting your favourite charity.
  • Receive support whenever you need it with our Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7.
  • An open, inclusive and supportive team where everyone is valued and all ideas and suggestions are welcomed.
