Job Description

What will your ‘typical’ day look like? Different that’s for sure…:

At Atom bank, we’re revolutionising the banking industry through cutting-edge technology and data-driven decision making. We’re on a mission to secure an A-IRB waiver, a prestigious designation that recognises our commitment to robust model and data governance.

As a Senior Model Validation Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of this exciting journey. You’ll lead the validation of all our models, ensuring they meet the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading model validation projects: You’ll take ownership of the entire validation lifecycle, from planning and execution to reporting and remediation.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders: You’ll build strong relationships with model owners, developers, and external validation partners.
  • Driving continuous improvement: You’ll identify opportunities to enhance our validation processes and contribute to the development of our next-generation model validation analysts.
  • Influencing risk management: You’ll provide expert advice on risk appetite metrics, limits, and key risk indicators, shaping our risk management framework.
  • Presenting to senior management: You’ll report to governance committees, including the Board Risk Committee, on the status of our models and governance framework.

What do we need from you?

  • Extensive experience in model validation and knowledge of model risk frameworks.
  • Experience of leading validations of A-IRB and IFRS9 models for UK residential mortgages.
  • Strong and proven stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to make informed business decisions, considering the impacts on customers and helping drive strategic goals.
  • Proven knowledge of statistics and econometrics.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory requirements (CRR, SS11/13, SS1/23).
  • Ability to translate technical details to non-technical audiences, including committees.
  • Experience in workflow planning/project management
