Job Description

We’re Atom...

The bank that's leading the fintech charge!

We’re not like the rest. We’re true innovators, and we’re redefining what a bank should be. Ours is a bank for today and the future, a mobile-first bank. Forget the stuffy branches, with Atom you can bank whenever, wherever, faster, and simpler.

Could you be the next innovator to join us?

What will your typical day look like? Different that’s for sure...

Our DevOps/Platform team are Award-Winning and have built the infrastructure of the bank from the ground up using a mix of cloud native services and solutions running on GCP. We use Hashicorp Vault & Consul to ensure security, while automated pipelines are developed using Terraform/Packer, Ansible & Jenkins. At Atom, we always look for ways to improve our operation. This means relentlessly testing our infrastructure and deployments so that we can be sure we can recover from unexpected failures.

Our Platform Engineers ensure that Atom manages its Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, environments, and tooling to enable developers to develop, testers to test and customers to use the Atom production app. Automation is at the heart of everything we do, providing speed, reliability, and consistency across the entire Atom cloud platform.

As a Platform Engineer you’ll provide hands-on capability to build, operate and ensure the platform is highly available, resilient, and performant for Atom’s customers and internal technology teams. Utilising a product mindset you’ll be a reliable partner for engineering groups, sharing knowledge, and working with other teams including Engineers, Product Managers & Delivery Managers.

You will:

  • Participate in daily stand-ups and discussions within cross functional team.
  • Design and develop a wide range of key systems.
  • Ensure best practices of trustworthy computing and secure development and implementation lifecycle are adhered to.
  • Ensure engineering processes have a focus on scalability, performance and monitoring.
  • Own the development and support of new automation patterns that other value streams can adopt to enable fully automated end-to-end deployments.
  • Within the Platform teams work with other engineers to break requirements down into stories and tasks, along with work estimates.
  • Configure and deploy regular software releases using a continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Provide support and maintenance of software and tooling, owned by the Platform value stream, and utilised by other value stream delivery teams.

What do we need from you?

  • Strong Cloud Computing experience in GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of Cloud computing fundamentals, e.g. Cloud IAM, Networks, Virtual Machines, Kubernetes, and Cloud native services, such as logging & monitoring.
  • Experience leveraging Gitlab pipelines for CI/CD
  • Experience of Infrastructure tooling (e.g. Packer, Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience of administering Cloud database-as-a-service for Postgres or native Postgres database instances.
  • Ability to identify and technically interpret issues to route cause via Log Files and Logging Platform Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Web Services and associated architectures/technologies, RESTful APIs, API Platform(s), ESB Platform(s), API Security Concepts
  • Knowledge of Linux RHEL commands to facilitate service management/restoration of service, and analysis.

What you’ll get from us?
