Job Description
APM Terminals
Maersk Container Industry (MCI) is looking for a Service Manager for South America East Coast, based in Brazil, to strengthen our technical and service presence for Star Cool and MCI products in one of our most complex and important markets.
This role is for an experienced technical professional with a strong background in reefer containers, who enjoys working close to customers, service providers, and the market. You will act as MCI’s technical ambassador in Brazil — combining hands-on support, Star Cool training, relationship management, and commercial awareness.
We offer
MCI manufactures refrigerated containers, Star Cool refrigeration machines and Sekstant connectivity for customers in the intermodal industry, including shipping lines, fruit multinationals, and leasing companies.
MCI is proud to be part of A.P. Moeller – Maersk, a global leader in container shipping and logistics.
MCI is headquartered in Tinglev, Southern Denmark with production facilities in Qingdao, China. We have a team of Service Managers strategically located around the globe, and this newly created position is adding to the global service outreach.
You will work in a highly specialized industry with only a few global players and represent one of the most energy-efficient reefer solutions on the market. Brazil is a key country for MCI’s customer’s operations, spare parts sales and aftermarket business, and this role plays a central part in strengthening our long-term presence in the region.
Responsibilities
As our new Service Manager, you will support customers and service partners across Brazil and the South America EC region, both technically and commercially, whilst providing technical support to customers and Service Providers by phone, email, and during on-site visits. You will be supporting quality investigations, field trials, and corrective actions in close cooperation with Quality and Engineering
Furthermore, your key tasks include:
Acting as escalation point for complex technical issues, including emergency support when required
Managing, developing, and auditing the Service Provider network to ensure compliance with MCI standards, policies and service agreements
Promoting MCI / Star Cool products in the field and supporting Sales with technical expertise
Delivering technical training and product familiarization sessions to Service Providers and customers
Supporting warranty investigations and ensuring correct implementation of warranty directives
Actively promoting OEM and aftermarket spare parts and supporting parts recovery and analysis
Gathering market and competitor intelligence and feeding insights back to global stakeholders
Navigating local market challenges related to duties, taxes, and parts logistics in Brazil
We are looking for
You have a solid technical foundation within refrigeration and electrical systems and know the reefer container industry well. You are confident working independently, enjoy customer interaction, and are comfortable presenting and training groups.
We expect you to have:
Education and hands-on experience in the fields of refrigeration, electrical or marine engineering, Reefer Technician or a similar technical background
Strong knowledge of refrigeration, electrical and electronic systems
Experience operating, servicing and repairing reefer containers, preferably including spare parts management, familiarity with warranty requirements, and aftermarket trades.
Good understanding of the reefer container market and its main global manufacturers
A commercial mindset and interest in market development and parts sales
Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Brazil, the region and with occasional international travel
You will succeed in the role if you are:
Relationship-oriented and confident interacting with customers and partners
Structured, self-driven, and comfortable working independently
Service-minded with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach
Confident speaking in front of groups and delivering technical training
Comfortable working across cultures and in a global organization
