About the Role
The Mobile Harbour Crane (MHC) Technician plays an essential role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of our Mobile Harbour Cranes and related terminal equipment. This person supports the smooth running of vessel operations by delivering high-quality maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair services. The role blends technical expertise with strong teamwork, a proactive mindset and an interest in continuous learning.
Working within our Asset Maintenance team, the MHC Technician helps maintain the backbone of terminal operations—ensuring equipment is safe, available, and functioning optimally so vessels can be serviced efficiently and sustainably.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Mobile Harbour Cranes, ensuring all work meets technical and safety standards
- Diagnose electrical, electronic and mechanical faults using appropriate tools, methods and documentation
- Carry out repairs on crane electrical systems, PLC drive control systems, communication systems and related components
- Support emergency maintenance activities, responding promptly and ensuring accurate follow-through until resolution
- Monitor equipment performance, conduct inspections and prepare clear, complete maintenance and condition reports
- Ensure housekeeping, safety compliance and adherence to HSSE procedures within the workshop and work areas
- Collaborate with colleagues in technical, operations and planning teams to coordinate maintenance priorities
- Engage with suppliers and vendors for information, parts support and shared operational objectives
- Follow established work instructions, processes and quality standards while contributing ideas for operational improvement
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of crane systems and new technologies through ongoing learning and training
What We’re Looking For
Lean-minded: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.
- OND or HND in Electrical Electronics is preferred
- At least five years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing Mobile Harbour Cranes (preferably Liebherr or Gottwald)
- Strong technical knowledge of crane electrical/electronic systems, PLCs (especially Siemens), drives and related components
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, simple engineering drawings and equipment documentation
- Familiarity with digital and analogue electronics, along with basic mechanical understanding
- Ability to prioritize tasks, follow instructions and stay focused on quality and safety
- Team-oriented attitude with good communication skills and openness to learning
- Willingness to participate in LEAN, process improvement and non-routine development activities
- Ability to respond promptly to breakdowns, seeing tasks through to completion with professionalism
- Basic verbal and written English skills, with clear and accurate reporting capabilities
