Job Summary**
Airbus Aerostructures S.R.L. is seeking a Tooling and Station Design Engineer to develop innovative and efficient tooling solutions and production station layouts for our advanced aerostructure manufacturing processes. This role is critical in optimizing production efficiency, ensuring quality, and supporting the continuous improvement of our manufacturing capabilities.
Job Responsibilities**
* Design, develop, and validate manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and production stations for aerostructure components, considering ergonomic principles, safety standards, and production rates.
* Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., Catia V5/V6, NX) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of tooling and station layouts.
* Perform feasibility studies, stress analyses, and simulations to optimize tooling designs and predict performance.
* Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, production teams, and suppliers to define requirements, integrate designs, and troubleshoot issues.
* Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and recommendations for improvements.
* Develop technical specifications, documentation, and work instructions for tooling and station usage.
* Support the procurement and manufacturing processes of tooling, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
* Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, lead time reduction, and quality improvement in tooling and station design.
* Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to tooling and aerostructure production.
Job Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven experience in tooling design and/or production station layout within the aerospace or a similar complex manufacturing industry.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Catia V5/V6 or NX.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and assembly techniques for aerostructures.
* Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
* Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools is a plus.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Fluency in English (written and spoken). German is an advantage.
Travel & Training (Mandatory): Flexibility for travel to Germany is strictly required. The role demands a minimum estimated training time of approximately 6 months at the German plant.
