Job Description:

A vacancy for a Tech Lead with expertise in FrontEnd development has arisen within Airbus India in Bangalore. You will join the Software Development team within the Digital department for a specific domain - Skywise .

Following best IT practices and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), the team developed software products on iOS/iPad, web applications, etc. that can be used by pilots.

As a member of the Software Factory (Skywise) team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing user interface components using QT / QML/ C++. You will also be responsible for profiling and improving application performance and documenting our front-end codebase.

We are looking for a high energy, team player as part of a squad and you will support all aspects of software development including estimates, coding and testing, automation and support of solutions and their deployment process. Squads support specific services which work together to provide flight operation solutions for airlines to run safe and performant operations.

Squads can be flexible, so there is always an opportunity to work on new and existing technologies, as well as new or existing solutions, bringing your experience to a variety of challenges.

This position will report to a Group Manager within Airbus India. Passion for technology and problem solving are a must have.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the software development team technically, on all SDLC aspects as well as coding/debugging/testing, etc.
  • Perform code reviews for team members and suggest improvements
  • Provide suggestions to the Group Manager on potential skill upgrade or performance impact for the team
  • Propose low-level design in line with the software architecture principles for new features to be developed by the development team and also review the design proposed by team for smaller features / modifications
  • Work closely with Solution Architects to understand application needs & identify the best design choice for software implementation.
  • Play the role of code-owner; Lead code reviews and chapter learning activities and design reviews at the release train level
  • Responsible for quality delivery and do right the first time
  • Coding, testing, documenting and debugging assigned development tasks to meet acceptance criteria
  • Support the implementation of features according to designs and specifications
  • Participate and support in estimating of stories
  • Review proposed test cases and test automation to execute them
  • Communicate ideas and plans verbally and written in support of a squad
  • Use problem solving skills to make progress on implementations and issues under the supervision of senior team members

This role will involve some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

The skills you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, information technology or other related discipline with 11-15 years of experience
  • Strong experience working in Web and Mobile frontend technologies.
  • Experience in following an agile methodology (SCRUM, KABAN, SAFe).
  • Must have
    • Web and mobile application development
    • C++ / QT / QML
    • Relational database
    • REST APIs
  • Nice to have
    • iPadOS (knowledge will be useful too)
    • OSGearth (knowledge will be useful too)
    • SPA, Micro frontends
    • UX, Responsive Design, Accessibility (knowledge will be useful too)
    • Design Systems
    • C# or Java
    • AWS

Success Metrics:

Success will be measured in a variety of areas, including but not limited to

  • Deliver business value as defined by product owner and accountable for team’s delivery value as well
  • Give a transparent information during the AGILE rituals (Remaining to do and issues encountered) and request help for support
  • Consistently ensure the on-time delivery and quality (first-time-right) of the sprints
  • Bring innovative cost effective solutions
  • Achieve customer satisfaction
  • Ability to handle a subject from demand management, to development and support
  • Ability to challenge the needs of the clients and provide appropriate solutions

The role will have the following key outputs:

  • Strong link with the Airbus Digital organization and Navblue organization
  • Good quality code and participation in improvement of existing code
  • Proactive in providing guidance & inputs for the product’s roadmap
