In order to support our Systems Engineering Team in Manching, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Systems Engineer - EF Training Simulator Instructor Operating Stations (d/f/m)

Our department develops top-notch, high-fidelity engineering and training simulations for a variety of aircrafts, supporting the entire development lifecycle.

We are seeking for a Systems Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of instructor operator stations in context of Eurofighter training simulation. In addition to the overall simulation control & monitoring, these stations are also used for instructing and debriefing training sessions.

This role combines systems engineering with product ownership and project management aspects, in order to ensure the solution is technically sound, user-focused, and delivered on-time.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Capture and translate customer needs into clear system specification and acceptance criteria.
  • Shape technical roadmap together with a team of system- & software engineers, breaking down requirements into tasks and milestones.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing new features, technical improvements, and customer feedback.
  • Drive the development of user-centric, high-performance UIs with Qt/QML, aligning design with usability and architectural integrity.
  • Perform risk management activities by proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact delivery.
  • Ensure high-quality product delivery on time within agreed budget and scope.
  • Manage collaboration with external suppliers and subcontractors, ensure seamless integration into the overall system.
  • Regularly monitor, evaluate and report progress, challenges and customer feedback. Keep stakeholders informed.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher degree in computer science, aeronautical engineering, or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience across entire system engineering lifecycle of simulation projects, preferably in military flight training devices.
  • Understanding of military aircraft systems, operational procedures, and mission workflows is considered an advantage.
  • Strong technical background with a solid understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps pipelines, containerization) and familiarity of software technologies (C++, Ot/QML).
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to efficiently collaborate with customers and within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing external suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Proactive and pragmatic mindset and being passionate about simulation.
