You will be working within the safety business unit of of Airbus Protect, in the role of a safety engineer supporting our customer in Donauwörth on safety analysis of helicopter functions and systems

Task Description

  • Support for Safety Analyses: Assist in the generation and review of safety assessments and analyses for aircraft systems (e.g., FHA, pSSA, SSA, Fault Trees) in accordance with standardized and predefined methodologies
  • Execution of Standard Analyses: Independently perform Common Cause Analyses (such as Zonal Safety Analysis or Particular Risk Analyses) under the guidance of experienced System Safety Engineers
  • Collaboration with Design Teams: Interface with internal system development teams to verify and document compliance with defined safety objectives
  • Requirements Management: Contribute to the derivation, capture, and tracking of safety-derived requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle
  • Certification Documentation: Compile and prepare data and compliance showings to support the certification process and Continued Airworthiness
  • Support for Technical Interfaces: Collect data and coordinate with adjacent technical domains (e.g., software/hardware development, maintenance, quality management)

Required Qualifications

The job requires knowledge and skills that are usually acquired through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of mechanical engineering, aeronautics or comparable courses of study and related subject-specific additional qualifications or through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of more than 4 years with a degree or completed vocational training with a corresponding particularly extensive subject-specific additional qualification. The total required knowledge and experience may have been acquired in other ways.

Skills and Competences

  • Knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge and experience (e.g., through relevant internships, theses, or initial career steps) in the field of system development or reliability engineering, ideally within the aviation industry
  • Fundamental understanding of aircraft systems and their architectures
  • Initial exposure to common aviation safety standards and processes (e.g., ARP 4754A, ARP 4761) is an asset but not a requirement (on-the-job training will be provided).
  • Knowledge and experience in applying analytical methods (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis / FTA)
  • Analytical Thinking, Structured, diligent, and methodical approach to analyzing complex data
  • Teamwork and Communication, strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating in interdisciplinary project teams
  • Motivation and initiative to quickly familiarize yourself with new tools, regulatory requirements, and complex systems
  • Language Skills: Good to very good written and spoken German and English (for working with international documentation)

This position may require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.
